What is SkinPen
micro-needling?
The Rejuvenation Doctors use the SkinPen for micro-needling treatments, which is one of the BEST devices on the market.

The SkinPen device has 14 ultra fine needles that enter the skin at a precise depth (depending on the type of treatment) 7,000 times per minute.
This creates 98,000 micro-injuries which stimulates your body’s natural wound healing process and also allow topical skincare products like PRP (platelet rich plasma) and stem cells to penetrate the skin and encourage skin cell rejuvenation.
The micro-injuries also result in the formation and remodelling of collagen and elastin, which help to treat a range of skin complaints.

Each treatment is carried out with a brand new, disposable cartridge that contains the needles. This SkinPen is one of the only devices that is 100% sealed, meaning there is no risk of cross contamination.

The adjustable needle depth allows our doctors to carefully control the depth of the need down to the nearest 0.25mm in order for them to treat even the most delicate areas of your face.

How long does micro-needling take to carry out?
The procedure itself takes approximately 30 minutes, but this is after a thorough consultation, consent and photographs.

Who does the micro-needling procedure?
All our treatments are carried out by fully trained and qualified doctors.

How long till I see the results of my micro-needling treatment?
It takes approximately 30 days for your body to go through the several phases of healing, but this healing phase continues for several months. So you will start to see the results 30 days after the treatment, but this will continue to improve with time.

How many micro-needling treatments are required?
A single treatment will produce a positive result in those looking for minor skin rejuvenation.
However, for acne scarring, hair loss and more severe signs of ageing a course of 3 or 6 treatments are advised.

Does micro-needling hurt?
The procedure itself should not be painful. We apply a numbing cream before the procedure for 30 minutes to make sure you're comfortable.

Is micro-needling safe?
Micro-needling has been used for over 50 years and devices have improved the safety and effectiveness of the treatment. At The Rejuvenation Doctors, we use the SkinPen device because it is both FDA and CE approved and is the only device on the market to have a 100% sealed cartridge, ensuring there is no cross contamination of fluids between patients.

Can I have micro-needling treatments whilst pregnant?
Unfortunately, you can't have micro-needling whilst pregnant or breast feeding. There aren't any studies showing it's harmful, but it's not something companies are interested in testing. So, enjoy your time off with your new family addition and we'll be happy to see you back in clinic later.
