Which areas of hair thinning may respond to PRP?
PRP is considered for thinning areas where hair follicles are still visible. Dr Jamie will assess the pattern and cause of your hair loss to explain whether PRP is a suitable option for the area you want to improve.
How many PRP sessions will I need?
The clinic’s current initial course is three treatments spaced four weeks apart. Dr Jamie will confirm the most appropriate course and review plan after assessing your hair and scalp.
When might I notice a change?
Changes develop gradually over the months following treatment. Dr Jamie will explain what to look for, when progress can be reviewed and how photographs can help track your individual response. Some people do not experience a meaningful improvement, so results are reviewed honestly over time.
Do PRP scalp injections hurt?
Local anaesthetic injections are used to reduce discomfort, but the blood draw, anaesthetic and scalp injections can still cause mild temporary pain or tenderness.
What are the risks and limitations of PRP?
Risks include pain, tenderness, redness, swelling, bruising, bleeding, headache, infection and a reaction to local anaesthetic. No visible improvement is seen in 1 in 10 patients who try PRP for hair thinning.
How does PRP compare with other hair treatments?
PRP, medical management and hair transplantation address different needs. Dr Jamie will explain how each option relates to your diagnosis and whether PRP could form part of your wider hair-restoration plan.
